1. Connection

Connect ALL business bank and credit card accounts to your QuickBooks Online account.

Even if you don't use a credit card, or there's "only a few hundred dollars" in the bank account, connect it.

An incomplete balance sheet will inevitably lead to an inconsistent P&L and will not tell the full financial story of your organization.

A general rule of thumb: if there is an open bank account or credit card in the organization's name, connect it to QuickBooks.

2. Continuous

Follow-ups.

There is no science to this, although most of us probably wish there was.

Some people say do it once a week, some people say once a week will annoy your prospect and do it once every other week.

In our experience, there is no right answer. We'll follow up with people every week for a couple months, stop following up, not hear anything for a couple months, then we'll hear back. It never makes sense.

It's not supposed to make sense. Part of that is why we write the newsletter - sort of like an indirect follow-up. Bottom line -> stay in front of your prospects!

3. Capacity

Not enough time in the day?

Not enough time in the day. I've had work I thought I was going to finish last week roll into this week, and unsurprisingly it may roll into next week. It is never-ending!

I wrote about practice management software last week, which helps, but pair it with common sense. I still use hand-written lists of daily tasks and if I'm feeling really productive, I'll number each bullet point by highest priority.

Practice management tells me what's due that day, common sense tells me what I should be working on now.

Until next week
